Mrs. Mary Martha Dultmeier, 87, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away May 20, 2024.
Mary was born on September 13, 1936, in Scobey, Montana to Arthur and Genevieve Cole. Mary was the oldest of nine children. Mary and her parents moved from Montana to Granite Falls, Washington. When she was 15-years old, the family moved from Granite Falls to Baldwin, Kansas.
In 1954, Mary graduated from Baldwin High School. She later moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she worked for the Hallmark Card company.
Mary and Leon married in November 1955. Together they had seven children. Mary contributed to the success of Dultmeier Brothers Construction.
They loved camping, skiing, boating with their family and attending their family sporting events. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, winning many awards.
For many years in the 1980s, Mary worked for Menninger Foundation.
After raising her children, Mary became very active in the Topeka sewing community. She was a long term member of many knitting and quilting clubs including the Missouri Star Quilt Company, the Christ the King sewing group and the Overbrook quilting club and an honorary member of Country Quilters Guild, and Capitol Quilters Guild. Mary never found a quilt shop that she did not like. Whenever possible, she went on quilting trips and retreats.
Mary was dedicated to her Catholic faith and was an active member of Christ the King Catholic Church for many years.
Mary is survived by Leon, her husband of 68 years, her children, Julie Douthett, Joan Silovsky, Jim (Lori) Dultmeier, Karen (Leo) Lang, Tom (Teresa) Dultmeier, Mary Elizabeth (Jeff) Wyrick and Kathleen (Sean) Christensen, 23 grandchildren and their spouses, and 24 great-grandchildren.
Mary is also survived by her brothers and sisters, their spouses, and countless nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her two grandchildren, Tyrel Isaac Wyrick and Jennifer Renee Dultmeier, and Julie's late husband, Stuart Douthett and Joan's late husband, George Silovsky.
There will be a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka, where the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m. following the rosary.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5973 SW 25th Street in Topeka. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
