Maurice Luster "Mo" Cowen, 80, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2022.
Maurice was born January 20, 1942 in Clayton, NM, the son of Luster and Joyce (Duckworth) Cowen. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1960 and Draughon Business College in Amarillo, TX.
He served in the Texas Army National Guard from 1966-68.
He was employed as a Manager in the Property Accounting Department with Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 39 years, retiring in 2001.
He enjoyed bowling, gardening, and greatly enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports. He was an avid K-State, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan.
Maurice married Florence "June" Jackson on June 22, 1963 in Borger, TX. His wife of 59 years survives. Other survivors include sons, Brian (Tish) Cowen, Topeka, Curtis (Kris) Cowen, Auburn; grandchildren, Chelsea (Marc Herman) Cowen, Kaeli (Justin) Weston, Joshua (Taylor) Cowen, Kenzie (Chatham) Williams, Ethan (Kishno Bell) Cowen, Kourtni Roberts, Tanner Roberts; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Viola Reeves; and brothers, Alvin Cowen and Gayland Cowen. He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Bill and Florence (Fisher) Jackson.
A Funeral Service celebrating Mo will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at the Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service and a reception will follow the service at the funeral home.
Maurice's services will be livestreamed at the scheduled service time.
