Listen to Obituary

Mindi Dawn Kohake Caskey died peacefully in her home on February 18, 2026. She was surrounded by her beloved husband and children. Mindi’s love of her family, her generosity of spirit, her thirst for learning, and the pursuit of God will always live on in the hearts of so many.

Mindi’s first true love was God. Whether that was spent in teaching others one on one or through preaching, or reading multiple books at the same time, or listening to podcasts, or engaging in worship through music. Her thirst for knowledge, and relationship and closeness to God drove her.

That same passion was poured into her children. From the day her first was born, until her last day, Mindi spent her time, energy and resources pouring into her children. She served as their mother, teacher, counselor, party planner, and all-around fun person to be with. Her children tell so much of her story and her love for them will always be felt.

Mindi loved to do a lot of things. She was a voracious reader, often reading several books at the same time. [Who does that?] She loved weekly trips to eat Mexican food, her daily drinks, her constant interactions with her parents and brothers and talking with her friends as they plotted the next fun activity for their kids. And she loved spending time with her husband, especially traveling when they could. Her favorite places somehow always ended up on a beach with the ocean waves crashing in the background.

Mindi was born on November 5, 1978, in Westmoreland, Kansas. She graduated from Silver Lake High School. She earned multiple degrees from Washburn University. She is the daughter of Edward K. and Cynthia Sue Kohake. She is survived by husband of 16 years, Bryan. Her children, Gabriel, Declan and Ellington. Her parents, Edward and Cynthia. Her brother Jamey and niece Sadie, her brother Brandon, wife Shaylin, nephews Brady, Brohden and Brinlee, and niece Jordan; her church family at TrueNorth, her homeschool families, high school friends, and the countless people her life had touched over the years.

Remember to hug your kids a little closer, reach out to the friends you haven’t in awhile, and tell everyone you love them. And Mindi would tell you God is good. All the time.
