Nadine L. Doherty

Nadine L. Doherty, 92, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at a Topeka hospital. She was born March 8, 1933 in Gridley, Kansas, the daughter of Perry and Mattie (Crane) Eccles. She was raised by Leonard and Hazel Young of Gridley.

Nadine graduated from Gridley High School. She was employed by Jostens Yearbook Company before retiring.

Nadine married James E. "Jim" Doherty on December 13, 1953 near Gridley, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Michael Desch.

Survivors include three children, Deborah Desch of Tecumseh, Diana (Andy) Lowe of Louisburg, Kansas and Donald (Doreena) Doherty of Topeka, five grandchildren, Michael (Victoria) Lowe of Lawrence, Brian Lowe of Louisburg, Kansas, Craig (Kim) Lowe of Tecumseh, Daryn (Andre) Vila of Topeka and Devon Doherty of Topeka, and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 5, 2025 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. where the family will receive friends one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Emmanuel Cemetery southeast of Topeka.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, Kansas 66604.
