Nancy Jo Pfannenstiel, affectionately known as "Fanny," passed away peacefully on December 7, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, surrounded by her beloved family. Born on February 6, 1955, in Topeka, Nancy spent her life nurturing her passions and the people she loved.
Nancy dedicated over 36 years of her career to Frito Lay in Topeka, where her work ethic and commitment earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. A graduate of Washburn Rural High School, Nancy was known not only for her professional contributions but also for her vibrant spirit and her ability to bring joy into the lives of those around her.
Throughout her life, Nancy cherished her role as a devoted mother, grandmother, and sister. She was immensely proud of her children, April Dawn Pfannenstiel, and her grandchildren: Daymon Verser, Zoie Hartness, Tyler Hartness, and great-grandson Jakeem Guerra. Nancy's family provided her with endless excitement and pride, and she took great joy in their accomplishments and milestones.
An ardent lover of cooking, Nancy had a unique talent for putting together delicious meals with whatever ingredients were at hand, a skill that made family gatherings particularly special. Her laid-back demeanor and loving nature left a positive impression on everyone who came to know her. Nancy had a special knack for taking life in stride; she did not let troubles weigh her down and approached life with a calmness that was truly inspiring. However, those who knew her recognized that she could be serious when necessary, embodying a wonderful balance of light-heartedness and accountability.
Nancy's interests extended beyond her family and career; she was an avid softball player throughout her life and had a deep passion for college football. She enjoyed the camaraderie of friends during her bingo nights, creating memories filled with laughter and joy.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, April Dawn Pfannenstiel; grandchildren, Daymon Verser, Zoie Hartness, Tyler Hartness, and great-grandson Jakeem Guerra; sister, Gayla Pfannenstiel-Greene; and brothers, John Pfannenstiel and Steve Pfannenstiel. She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Dorothy Pfannenstiel; brothers, Gary and Larry Pfannenstiel; sister, Judy Kay Pfannenstiel-Garrard; and brother, Paul Pfannenstiel Jr.
