Nancy Hoffman Pollock, 100, of Topeka, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024.
She was born September 17, 1923, in Elmira, New York, the daughter of H. Brooks and Gertrude (Hart) Hoffman. She graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1941 and attended the University of Michigan from 1941-1943. She served in the WAVES of the United States Navy as a Gunnery Instructor from 1944-1946, later graduating from Elmira College, class of 1948.
Nancy married Robert Edward Pollock on August 28, 1948 in Elmira, New York. They moved to Wichita in 1949 and lived there until 1995 when she moved to Topeka. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1995.
While living in Wichita, she was a member of Westwood Presbyterian Church and West Heights United Methodist Church. She was a member of the West Acres Extension Homemakers Unit for 33 years in Wichita, Kansas. She served as President of Sedgwick County Extension Homemakers Council serving two terms on the Executive Board of Sedgwick County Extension Service. Nancy was a member of the Changing Lifestyles FCE in Shawnee County for 17 years and served on the Executive Board of Shawnee County Extension Service. She was a member of Topeka Civic Nucomers and Countryside United Methodist Church of Topeka, Kansas.
Survivors include daughters, Agnes Smith (Jim) of Topeka and Mary Pohl (Jim) of San Marcos, TX; son, Robert Pollock (Livia) of Solon, OH; ten grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and a brother, Steve Hoffman (Jennie) of Mere, England.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant daughter, Nancy Whittemore Pollock; brother, Edward B. Hoffman and sister, Lois H. Muller.
Nancy enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and traveling.
Nancy's wishes were for cremation. A Memorial Ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday April 10, 2024 at Aldersgate Village, Wesley Hall, 7220 SW Asbury Dr., Topeka, KS 66614.
