Olyn F. Smith, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023 at a Topeka hospital. He was born June 9, 1942 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the son of Howard W. and Ruth L. (Oppor) Smith.
Olyn graduated from Waupaca High School. He was an Air Force Veteran, serving during the Vietnam War and Desert Storm. He was employed by the Waupaca Foundry in Waupaca, Wisconsin for 35 years before retiring. He had resided in Topeka since 2011.
Olyn was a member of the DAV, the American Legion, the North American Hunting Club and the NRA. He enjoyed the outdoors whether he was hunting, fishing or gardening.
Survivors include children, Fred Smith, Harry Smith, Vernon Smith, Gary Smith, Robert Smith, twelve grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his three brothers, William Smith, Lee Newsome and Glen Newsome.
A private Celebration of Olyn's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Children's Miracle Network, 205 West 700 South, Salt Lake City, Utah 84101.
