Orville L. Buchheim, 95, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, August 25, 2025 at a Topeka hospital. He was born November 22, 1929 in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Theodore and Ruby B. (Coffman) Buchheim.
Orville graduated from Lawrence High School in Lawrence. He attended Washburn University and Clarks Business School. He served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Orville was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for over 40 years before retiring. He served as an Assistant Funeral Director and also as Support Staff for Newcomer Funeral Service Group, including Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel / Dove Southeast Chapel for over 30 years. He was a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church, Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion and served as treasurer for Boy Scout Troop No. 40.
Orville married Shirley A. Robbins, whom he met while working at Santa Fe on April 14, 1951 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on April 14, 2020.
Survivors include their children, Gary (Dee) Buchheim of Meriden, Dave Buchheim of Leavenworth, Jan Buchheim of Topeka, Linda Buchheim Wurth of Overland Park, nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Also surviving is his special friend, Crystal.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
