Patricia "Patty" Marie Parr

Patricia Marie Parr, 76, of Topeka, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Friday, March 21, 2025.

She was born January 29, 1949, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of James and Betty (Lancaster) Dowling. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1967 and later attended courses at Kansas State University and Washburn University. She obtained her LPN from Manhattan Vocational Technical, graduating top of her class.

Patty worked as a nurse for various nursing homes in Junction City and Kansas City, Kansas. She later became the office manager for her husband’s practice in Junction City. She also volunteered for Shawnee County Master Gardeners, Topeka Police Department, and with CASA.

Patty married Harold Parr on February 5, 1972 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Dr. Parr survives. Other survivors include sons, Casey Parr (Jennifer) and Kevin Parr (Kelli Jo); grandsons, Joshua and Jack Parr; brother, Gregory Dowling, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Patrick Parr; and brothers, Richard Lee Dowling and Curtis Michael Dowling.

Patty loved family, lived for her children and was an amazing wife. She showed this in every moment she spent with them. She was the primary caregiver for her mother for many years visiting her every day until her passing. She had a passion for volunteer work and showed that throughout her life. She enjoyed reading true crime, gardening and bicycling.

Patty’s wishes were for cremation. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Interment of the cremated remains will take place in Manhattan, Kansas.
