Phyllis R. Ashcraft, 84, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2023.
She was born November 19, 1938, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Don and Frances (Jacobson) Chumley. She graduated from Seventh Day Adventist Academy in Enterprise, Kansas and attended fashion design and modeling classes in New York City and Kansas City.
Phyllis was self-employed with Ashcraft Interiors, modeling and representing clothing lines in the Kansas City, Dallas, Denver and Chicago markets.
Mrs. Ashcraft was a member of the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, of Topeka.
Phyllis married Robert Herrick, Sr.; they later divorced. She later married Steven F. Ashcraft on November 4th, 1989 in Topeka. He survives, along with her daughter, Lorie Weakly (William) of Topeka, stepdaughter Mary Beth Bottorf (Troy) of Florida and stepson Tom Ashcraft of Ohio; grandchildren Taylor and Dylan Weakly and step-grandchildren Hayden, Sydney and Madalyn Bottorf, Stephan, Brittany and Phillip Ashcraft, Noah Hildebrandt and Cole and Nicholas Ashcraft. She was preceded in death by her parents Don and Frances Chumley; son Robert Herrick, Jr. stepson Stephen Ashcraft; and many cousins.
Phyllis enjoyed interior design, modeling, volunteer work with local organizations, card and phone ministries, volunteer work with her church and ballroom dancing.
Per her wishes, Phyllis was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 13th at the Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka. Private interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Avenue in Topeka.
