Ralph N Bernhardt

Ralph Bernhardt, 92, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

He was born August 22, 1932 in Saint Louis, the son of Nick and Loucile (Spetter).

Ralph was employed by Contech (formally Armco) for over 40 years moving up and retiring as a Plant Manager. He continued working for another 20 years with Saint Francis Hospital in transportation.

Mr. Bernhardt was a member of the Knights of Columbus, of Topeka.

Ralph married Rose on May 16, 1952 in Lawrence. They were happily married for 65 years 

Other survivors include their children, Patricia (Joe) Desch, Topeka, Daughter In-law (Tammy) Bernhardt, Overland Park, Gary (Jean) Bernhardt, Lenexa; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

Rose preceded him in death on April 3, 2018 as well as sons: Larry, James and Nicky Bernhardt.

Ralph enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, softball and Umpiring softball games. He was on the 1951 State Champion Basketball team in Carbondale, KS. Sports were a serious matter in his life. Always busy bowling throughout the city. At the nursing home he was involved greeting and helping new residents and known jokingly as the assistant activity’s director.

Private Family Service will be held at a later date.
