Raul Antonio Montoya, known as Tony, 32, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at Stormont Vail Health. He was born on March 27th, 1993 in Aurora, Illinois at Mercy Medical Center. He was the son of Raul and Jeanine Lynn (Ascott) Montoya.
Tony graduated from Highland Park High School in 2012. He played the trumpet in the band and sang in the choir. He was a proud employee of PT's Coffee.
Tony was a man of many talents. He loved music most of all. Whether it be creating, listening, or sharing it. Tony was a very quiet and reserved person (depending on who he was with) but he communicated with others through art. He was also a writer, singer, photographer, explorer, and a sports fan. Tony was a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. He was loved by so many people.
Survivors include his parents, Raul and Jeanine Montoya of Topeka, his siblings, Nicole L. (G.T. Ngole) Montoya, Sara L. Montoya, Sonya A. Montoya, and nieces and nephew, Selena, Olivia, Leonia, Derek and numerous aunts, uncle and cousins.
Tony was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gaspar and Ceres Montoya, and his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Mary-Ann Ascott.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2025 at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Tony will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2025 at the funeral home.
