Rebecca Renee Schmidtlein (Richey) was born on February 7, 1986, to Mike and Carol Richey. She had three older siblings who are Beth Monje (Mark), Chandler, AZ; Alicia Richey, Garnett, KS; and David Richey (Andrea), Chesterfield, VA.

Although Becca was much younger, all four kids are very close. Our Becca had one son, Easton. Easton was born to Becca and Jon Schmidtlein on September 7, 2012.

Becca and Easton were as close as any mother and son could possibly be.

Becca graduated from Central Heights High School in the top of her class in 2004. She attended Washburn University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, and had Magna Cum Laude honors. She went on to attend two years of law school at Washburn University.

She was an avid reader. She loved people and demonstrated that by her kindness and concern in every job she worked. She was a peace maker. Becca loved to spend time with Easton and her family. She had a variety of interests, such as watching movies and playing board games with Easton, skydiving, and everything in between. She loved to fish, hike, be in the woods, walks in the rain, and with all this she had a great sense of humor and tried to look at the lighter side of life. Becca also had a quick but kind wit about her. Sometimes, her wittiness was so fast, you had to run to catch up.

Becca was also very talented and creative. She loved to create artwork such as sun catchers, jewelry and sewing projects. She was accomplished at knitting, and she made some beautiful projects.

Becca was always a cat person and loved cats. About two years ago, she was blessed with a special cat whom she and Easton named “Cheese”. This cat has provided so much laughter and joy to her and Easton.

Also, Becca affectionately oftentimes called Easton just “E”.

How do you condense the life of a person who is both beautiful inside and out? You can’t. Our Becca touched the lives of everyone and she will be greatly missed.
