Dr. Robert Eugene Lacy, 94, of Topeka, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 14, 2026.
He was born May 27, 1931, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Harry and Gladys (Wilcox) Lacy. He graduated Iola High School in 1949. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree in Business & Economics from the University of Kansas where he was also a member of the KU Golf Team and Sigma Chi Fraternity. He obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1961 from University of Missouri Kansas City. He served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps.
Robert was a dentist in Topeka for 55 years, until retiring in 2014.
Dr. Lacy was a member of the Topeka Country Club where he served on the board of Directors, Topeka Civitan Club, and Marine Corps League.
Robert married Jane Seidl on August 27, 1954 in Great Bend. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Kathleen Hein, Carolyn (Nick) Berilla, Elizabeth McGreevy; son, Robert (Sarah) Lacy; daughter, Allison (Brian) Nyquist; grandchildren, Matthew Hein, Reed Hein & Lacy Hein, Ryan Berilla, Jessie Chapel, Beau Berilla & Ian Berilla, Patrick Lacy & Anna Lacy, Madison Nyquist & Melissa Nyquist; great grandchildren, Hudson Hein, Reese Berilla, Hunter Berilla & Harper Berilla, and Chase Chapel; and sister, Lois Replogle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Harry Lacy & George Lacy; and son-in-laws, Larry Hein and Dennis McGreevy.
Robert was an avid golfer and KU sports enthusiast. He lived out his dream by developing and living on his own nine-hole golf course, proudly named Pebble Prairie Golf and Country Club. In his later years, he loved giving his support to various charities and organizations. At the age of 92 he wrote a book entitled “The Greatest Great Game” (Based on Robert’s fantasy ‘If Hitler Played Golf’).
Services will begin with a visitation at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66610 followed by a Celebration of Robert’s Life at 4:00 p.m. The family invites you to join them for a reception following the service from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Marine Corps League, Folds of Honor or Helping Hands Humane Society.
