He graduated from ElDorado High School. He attended ElDorado Junior College before WWII and graduated from Kansas State University in 1949 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He was an Army Veteran of WWII serving as a Forward Observer with the 273rd Field Artillery Battalion in Normandy, Northern France and Central Europe. He was a therapist at the VA Medical Center in Topeka for 31 years before retiring in 1980. He was a life member of both the Capitol Post No. 1 of the American Legion where he served as Past Commander and Philip Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
