Rodney Leroy Seitz, 93, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, August 2, 2026.
He was born March 2, 1933, in Wellington, Missouri, the son of Charles and Gladys (Ritchert) Seitz. Rodney was the youngest of nine children. He graduated from Wellington High School in 1951. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served four years.
Rodney was employed by the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company for 43 years, retiring in 1995. While at Goodyear, he met many coworkers who became lifelong friends.
Rodney was an active member of Prince Of Peace Lutheran Church, of Topeka.
Rodney married Barbara Heins on May 15, 1955, in Blackburn, Missouri. She preceded him in death on August 7, 2014. He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings.
Survivors include children Rhonda Seitz, Topeka, Kansas; Warren (Tracy) Seitz, Gravois Mills, Missouri; Colette (Lance) Murphy, Durham, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Rodney was a self made handyman; there was nothing that he couldn't fix. He was always willing to volunteer to help family and friends. He consistently supported his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild by coaching and attending their sporting events and school activities. Barbara and Rodney enjoyed traveling together, and were adamant on taking yearly family vacations. For their 50th wedding anniversary, they took their entire family on a memorable cruise to the Bahamas. In retirement, Rodney and Barbara were actively involved with friends, often playing cards, dominos, dancing, and traveling.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 14, 2026, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3625 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, Kansas. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends the evening prior, Thursday, August 13, from 6:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Topeka Rescue Mission, and sent to 600 N. Kansas Avenue, Topeka, Kansas, 66608.
