Rose Marie Glatt

May 29, 1941 — May 22, 2023

Rose Marie Glatt, 81 years young, peacefully passed away on Monday, May 22nd in Topeka with her husband of 43 years, Dean, at her side.

She was born May 29, 1941 in Topeka, Kansas, third daughter to Clifford and Juanita Norman. She spent early life in the Oakland community, where she attended State Street, Holiday Jr. High and Topeka High School. She lived in Lincoln, Nebraska from 1962 to 1977. She married Robert Clark in 1966 and they were blessed with a son, Marc Steven Clark. She and Marc moved back to Topeka after an amicable divorce.

Rose Marie worked for SW Bell as a Service Representative from 1959 to 1962. She worked as an Auto Travel Counselor for AAA Nebraska from 1963 to 1966 and then for AAA Kansas from 1977 to 1997 before retiring as Vice President of Travel Operations. During her time at AAA, she and Dean enjoyed several fantastic trips all over the world. Following her retirement from AAA, she served as a Committee Secretary and a Senate Journal Clerk until her second retirement in 2018. Rose Marie always valued hard work and the coworkers that often became life-long friends.

She married Dean A. Glatt on August 10, 1979 and he survives. Other family members include Marc Steven Clark of Oceanside, California and his wife Ashlea; two granddaughters, Laurel and Addison who both live in southern California; two sisters, Bernice Spicer in Willard, Missouri and Mary Ann Garland in Pasco, Washington; and her brother Jim Norman on Friday Harbor Island, Washington. Preceding her in death are her parents, Clifford and Juanita Norman. Rose Marie always remarked how fortunate it was that all four of the Norman siblings remained very close through the years and shared many adventures together.

She was a member of Topeka Baptist Church. She was a past Board Member of Meals on Wheels, and had served in various activities and positions for the ABWA Career Chapter. Her LOVE of gardening included becoming a Master Gardener from 1998 to 2005. She and Dean developed an extensive shade garden at their home at 3107 SW Arrowhead, which they maintained and shared many great memories with their neighbors of over 25 years, Cindy and Roger Shepard. The garden was the overall winner of the Greater Topeka Beautification contest in 2003 and on tour for them again in 2012. They always invited people to visit the garden and walk on its winding paths to experience God's handiwork.

There will be a celebration of life on Friday, May 26th at 1:00 PM at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel at 3700 SW Wanamaker Road in Topeka.
