Sandra S. "Sandie" Newman

Sandra S. “Sandie” Newman, 71, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026. She was born August 18, 1954 in Portsmouth, Virginia, the daughter of Emmett E. and Theresa D. (King) Green.

Sandie graduated from Topeka High School in 1973. She was employed by Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Kansas for several years prior to raising her family. She later went to work for Heritage Tractor Company for five years before retiring. She volunteered as a Librarian for Highland Park North Elementary School where she was active with the PTO.

Sandie married Erich L. Newman on June 23, 1973 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include children, Brandi (Ernest) Kester of Topeka, Christopher (Erin) Newman of Topeka, two grandchildren, Chloe and Whitney, and her siblings, Reuille (Chuck Curl) Green of Plover, Wisconsin, and Harold Green of Topeka.

A private Celebration of Sandie's Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the organization of the donor’s choice.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with service arrangements.
