Shannon L. Roy, 75, of Lawrence, passed away Saturday, January 3, 2026.

She was born May 28, 1950, in Newton, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd and Thelma (Kennedy) Roy. Shannon graduated from Newton High School. She later furthered her education at the University of Kansas and earned her Bachelor’s Degree and later attended the Oklahoma University and earned her Master’s Degree.

Shannon worked at the State Library of Kansas. Prior to her working for the State of Kansas, she worked for the State Libraries in Missouri and Michigan. After retirement she was a pet sitter in people’s homes.

She enjoyed hiking all over Kansas and raising her cats.

She is survived by her sister, Linda (Chuck) Pullen; nieces, Janet Good and Leah Roy-Erie; two nephews, Steve Good and Robert Roy; great-niece, Reva Roy-Erie; and two great-nephews, Elliot Good-DeCosta and Orion Roy-Erie. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Michael Roy.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Topeka, 4775 SW 21st Street, Topeka, KS 66604. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Avenue is assisting the family with service arrangements.
