Sharon Jean Landreth, 79, of Junction City, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2025.
She was born July 31, 1945, in Silver Lake, Kansas, the daughter of Omer and Lois (May) VanVleck. She graduated high school in Germany.
Sharon was employed with Junction City Bowl, formally known as Big Bowl, for more years than anyone can count, retiring in 2025.
Mrs. Landreth was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, of Junction City. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Junction City. USBC
Sharon married Jerry “Sam” Landreth on July 24, 1965 in Leavenworth, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 2010.
Survivors include the brother, Omer VanVleck; nephews, Larry VanVleck, Travis VanVleck, and Michael VanVleck; nieces, Lynette Renfro, Misty Birdsong, and Cristy Balch; many great nieces and nephews; cousins, Margie Younger and Butch Dulaban; the daughter she never had, Jennifer McKinney, and her beloved dog, Gizmo.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She was a dedicated member of the bowling community in Junction City, the unofficial historian, she had Local Bowling Association Yearbooks going back into the 70’s and all the stories to go with them. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
Sharon loved to have a good time, whether that was having good conversations with friends and family or visiting the casino. She liked watching the Kansas City Royals. She loved elephants and always enjoyed receiving a new addition to her collection.
Sharon's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery in Manhattan, Kansas, where she will join her husband.
