Skyler Stone passed away on October 27, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer. His loving family surrounded him in his final moments, a testament to the deep bonds he cherished throughout his life.
Skyler was born on April 6, 1977, in Topeka, Kansas. After graduating from Lake Worth Florida High School, he pursued his passion for the arts at the University of Florida in Gainesville. His education laid the foundation for a successful career as an art underwriter in insurance, where he was esteemed not only for his professionalism but also for the love he infused into his work.
Skyler's life was marked by an infectious enthusiasm for music , comedy and sports. He found joy in playing in a band, The Know How, which traveled extensively throughout the US and into Canada. His passion for baseball led him to travel across the country to visit stadiums with his wife, Dara. He had a bucket list to visit all major league stadiums, and he made it to all but three.
Skyler was known for his outgoing personality and ability to bring laughter to everyone around him. His kindness and sense of humor endeared him to friends and family alike. Above all, he took immense pride in his role as a father to his son, Brecken and valued the unconditional love he received from his wife, Dara with whom he shared 14 wonderful years of marriage. He is also survived by his loving mother, Rebecca Moroney, and his siblings, Rosemary Doughtery ,Megan Profeta ,and Michael Moroney, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
As the frontman of The Know How, as in life, Skyler was a natural leader, comedian, and entertainer who loved people and loved to make others happy.
As we remember Skyler, we celebrate a life that resonated with laughter, artistry, and unwavering love and kindness for family and friends.
A celebration of Skyer's life will be held at The Foundry Event Center 400 SW 33rdStreet in Topeka, Kansas, on November 16 from 1 pm to 3 pm. At 1:45 a video will begin celebrating Skyler’s life
