Stanley Hayes Stover, 85, of Topeka, KS, passed away Sunday, August 24th, 2025 peacefully at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born April 13, 1940, in Lansing, Michigan, the son of William “Hayes” and Alice “Marie” (Moffet) Stover. He was a 1958 graduate of J.W. Sexton High School, Lansing, Michigan. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in the fall of 1958 and was stationed at Forbes Air Force Base, a Strategic Air Command (SAC) facility, until being honorably discharged in October 1962.

Stan was employed by Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka from 1964 until retiring in April 1995. He attended night school at Topeka Vo Tech obtaining a diploma for Autobody work so he and his son, Todd could work on cars together.

He was a member of United Rubber Workers, Local #307 in Topeka. He was also a former member of Moose Lodge No. 555 in Topeka.

Stan married his forever love, Charlene Jo Black on May 27, 1962. They had 2 children - son Todd Michael and daughter Brenda Jo. Stan and Charlene shared over 58 years together until she preceded him in death on February 2, 2021. He was also preceded in death by his son, Todd Stover in May of 2000, and his sister, Audrey Kulsar in January 2007.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda (John) Clarke of Edgerton, KS; his grandchildren, Caleb (Haley) Clarke of Manhattan, KS, Trevor (Leyena) Clarke of Bella Vista, AR, and Sydney (Chase) Kilgore of Joplin, MO; his great-grandchildren, Cruz and Cohen Kilgore; two nephews and a niece.

With his wife, Charlene, Stan spent his retirement in Englewood, Florida. He enjoyed their Florida winters, going to the beach to collect shells and shark’s teeth and metal detecting. They also enjoyed going to casinos all over the United States. Stan “Pappap” loved being with family and spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their sporting events and activities. More recently, his two great-grandsons brought him joy.

Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A joint celebration of life to honor both Stan and Charlene Stover, who are now reunited together, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel & Reception Center, 4700 SW 17th St, Topeka, KS 66604. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family.
