Sue "Susie" Harper, born on July 16, 1936, in Emporia, Kansas, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. She dedicated over 30 years of her life to a rewarding career in the insurance industry, where she was known for her commitment and professionalism.
Sue was a bright and joyful spirit, loved by all who knew her. She was especially renowned for her caring nature towards her family. One of her most cherished passions was bringing her family together, particularly during the holiday season. Christmas gatherings at her home were filled with laughter, love, and the wonderful tradition of singing along on Christmas Eve. Her Thanksgiving meals were legendary, showcasing her culinary skills and the warmth of her heart. Sue also treasured playing cards with her family, creating lasting memories during these joyful gatherings.
Her interests extended beyond family. Sue was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and found joy in playing the piano. She also enjoyed bowling, a pastime she shared with friends and family alike.
Sue will be dearly missed by her loving family, which includes her daughters, Peggy (Keary) Donaldson and Diane Dawley; her sister, Sallie (Duane) Knapp; her brother, Gary (Margie) Embry; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Dean Harper, with whom she shared over 40 years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her daughter Connie Hood, her son Eric Harper, and brothers Richard, Phillip, and David Embry. The legacy of Susie Harper will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and she will forever be remembered for her vibrant spirit and unwavering love for her family.
