Sung "Jeon" Hur, 75, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, June 22, 2023.
He was born April 14, 1948, in Seoul, South Korea, the son of Un and Soon Yo (Lim) Hur.
Sung was employed by Payless Shoes in Topeka for many years, retiring in 2010.
Sung married Nancy Bisel in Topeka. To this union were three children. He married Kyung Hee Hyun on November 14, 1989 in South Korea. She survives in Topeka. Other survivors include his three children, Kristin (Michael) Alvarez of Topeka, Lisa (Patrick) Mitchell of Topeka and Bret (Meagan) Hur of Olathe, KS: seven grandchildren, Parker, Mason and Brayden Alvarez, Liam and Jensen Mitchell and Ben and Olivia Hur; and two sisters, Soo Ja Hur of Colorado and Soo Young Hur of San Antonio, TX.
He was preceded in death by parents.
Sung enjoyed fishing at Lake Perry, traveling to San Antonio and fishing in the ocean. He also cared for the neighborhood cats.
Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A Memorial Service will be held Friday June 30, 2023 beginning at 4:00pm at the Countryside United Methodist Church, 3221 SW Burlingame Rd, Topeka, KS 66611. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel is assisting the family.
