Tasia Marie Collins, 34, of Topeka, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. She was born December 2, 1990 in Topeka, to Lori Alexander and Frederick Collins.
Tasia grew up in Topeka with her mom and brother Trey. She and Trey spent many summers in California with her father. She played basketball recreationally and really enjoyed the game, but when it came to football, her world revolved around the Kansas City Chiefs. On Sundays when they played the Raiders, she and her father would wait to see who makes the taunting phone call to joke about which team beat the other.
In her teens, Tasia faced challenges that caused her to be separated from her family for a period, but she didn’t let that stop her growth. In this temporary environment, she met peers who would become longtime friends. It was this experience that sparked her passion for bettering the lives of at-risk youth. Knowing first-hand the emotional toll this separation can take, she worked hard in several facilities to provide compassion and guidance to the children in her care.
Tasia relocated to Wichita in 2024 and began working as a House Counselor at Youth Horizon. She loved the kids and worked with people who were not only coworkers but were also her friends. She put in the work to obtain several certifications in this field. She started building a life in Wichita and was attending River Community Church until her passing.
Tasia is preceded in death by her great grandparents, Francis S. “Jack” and Matilda Alexander, her maternal grandmother Patricia Alexander and paternal grandparents, James, Sr. and Lorene Collins, and her mother, Lori Alexander.
Tasia is survived by, her father Frederick C. Collins (Lisa) of Riverside, CA, her brother Walter “Trey” Barr, III (Arianna) of Kansas City, MO, one nephew Treyvion Barr, four nieces, Kaimbry, Tristen, Kwyn and Thri, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
We mourn her loss in this moment but celebrate her life forever.
