Thomas M West

Thomas Michael West, 76, of Lecompton, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

He was born August 21, 1949, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Frank and Dorothy (Heatherington) West. He graduated from Hayden High School in 1967. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1969 - 1971.

Tom was employed with Goodyear Tire for 30+ years, retiring in 2004.

Tom married Bev Brown on May 30, 1975 in Maple Hill, Kansas. He is survived by his loving wife, Bev West; sons, Matt (Danielle) West and Mike (Angie) West; grandchildren, Maggie, Hudson, Sophie and Harper, and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Betty Gannon.

Tom was a very involved family man. He loved coaching his boy’s teams in various sports and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He participated in his own bowling leagues, golf leagues, and softball teams, and was active in swimming at the Lawrence Aquatic Center. He was an avid KU Basketball, Chiefs Football, and Royals Baseball fan. He was a gracious host to many parties and events. He loved listening to Blues music and was a member of the Topeka Blues Society. He loved making up Birthday songs for people and singing them to the Honorary guest.

A Memorial Celebration will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 27, 2025 at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, Kansas 66610.
