Thomas Warren Woodruff, 75, of Topeka, Kansas, passed at home in his sleep on October 29, 2026. He was born on December 26, 1950, in Montgomery, Alabama.
Thomas lived a life shaped by hard work, service, and devotion to the people he loved most. He graduated from Billingsley High School and later attended Montovalo University. He worked for many years as a carpenter and wood worker, using his hands and skills to create lasting things with care and pride.
He was drafted on June 21, 1971, and served during the Vietnam War until March of 1972. He then went to Fort Riley for the remainder of his service until November 30, 1973. That same year, on December 8, 1973, he married Colleen Atwell in Junction City, Kansas. Their marriage was a lasting part of his life and a source of deep joy.
Thomas enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he especially loved clocks. He loved his family deeply, and some of his happiest times were spent simply being with them. One of his favorite pastimes was going to the casinos with his wife, Colleen. He also took special pride in the work of his hands. His last completed project was a built-in bookcase in the family living room, a meaningful accomplishment and a gift his wife will enjoy for years to come.
He is survived by his wife, Colleen Woodruff; his daughter, Jennifer Grelk, and her husband, David; his son, Jeremy Woodruff, and his wife, Joy; his granddaughters, Alyssa Yarborough and her partner, Tristan, Madison Woodruff, Skylar Grelk; his grandson, Braden Woodruff; his great-granddaughters, Emmalynn Philo and Briar Hughes; and his sister, Diannia Collier, and her husband, Steve. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him and by the family who brought him so much pride and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Rawlinson, and his sister, Debbie Williams.
Thomas will be remembered as a man who worked hard, loved well, and found joy in family, craftsmanship, and the simple pleasures of life. His memory will remain a blessing to those who knew and loved him.
