Vera Jean "Jeanie" Frieswyk, 87, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2026.
She was born March 7, 1938, in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of Murl and Vera (Shufflebotham) Adair. She received her Associate's Degree from Indiana State University.
Jeanie worked in fine jewelry for many retail stores including Macy's and Dillards. She also worked in administration at the Menninger Foundation.
Mrs. Frieswyk was a member of the First Christian Church, of Topeka, where she sang in the choir along with her husband Dr. Siebolt H. Frieswyk Jr.
Jeanie married Dr. Siebolt H. Frieswyk Jr. on June 11, 1960 in South Bend, Indiana. He survives. Other survivors include daughters, Jean Adair Frieswyk of Topeka, Christine Frieswyk-Mannella (Tom) of Victor, NY, Alicia Frieswyk of Lawrence, Michelle Frieswyk-Johnson (Andy) of Louisville, CO, Serena Frieswyk of Alameda, CA, and Beth Frieswyk-Masters (Michael) of Alameda, CA; grandchildren, Mila Frieswyk-Johnson and Sophia Frieswyk-Johnson; sisters-in-law, Sue Adair, Eileen Frieswyk VanNote, Midge Frieswyk, and Evelyn Knuppel; 6 nephews, 8 nieces, and many other cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, James Murl Adair.
Jeanie loved her family and spent many joyful times with her children and grandchildren. She had an impeccable sense of humor. She enjoyed many trips traveling with her husband to Kansas City, enjoying Jazz, the Opera, Ballet, Musicals and many other arts, and eating on the Plaza. She also enjoyed traveling to see grandchildren in Colorado, a trip to Europe and an East Caribbean cruise. She had a large collection of dishes from Stoke-on-Trent, England where her mother was born and her grandfather worked as a ceramicist. She also loved going to the movies and enjoyed buckets of theater popcorn with lots of butter and chocolate of any kind. And you could always find her working in the yard or playing in the flower pots. But she will be most remembered by her family for her enormous capacity to love, her sense of humor, contagious laughter, creating memorable holidays and birthdays and her singing.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date in the late spring or early summer.
