Vicky Robinson, 70, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Des Moines, Iowa, received her angel wings on Thursday, September 18, 2025 as she was surrounded by those who loved her. Known for her kindness, warmth, and gentle soul, Vicky devoted her life to caring for others—especially children—and made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Born on October 18, 1954, in Des Moines, Vicky spent her career providing childcare, where she loved and nurtured every child as if they were her own. Her compassion and genuine connection with children led many to remain close to her well into adulthood. Even years later, they continued to reach out, a testament to the powerful bond she formed with each of them.
Ten years ago, Vicky moved to Topeka, Kansas, alongside her only daughter Cherie, son-in-law Kevin, and her father Ed. There, she built a life full of love, laughter, and the simple joys she treasured most—reading, playing games on her iPad, enjoying a good margarita, watching and feeding hummingbirds, and spending time with friends and family. She also had a deep love for cats and frequently visited the Topeka Cat Café, she was always happiest in the company of her feline companions.
To a special group of children (Kati, Layla, Parker Connor and Jack), Vicky was lovingly known as "Grandma Vicky". Vicky cherished them and loved them being part of her life, embracing the role of grandmother with pride and joy from the very beginning.
Vicky was often described as the kindest soul people had ever met—not because she sought recognition, but because she lived with quiet humility and strength. She found beauty in life’s simple moments: sipping Starbucks on a sunny deck, reading a good book, watching hummingbirds and squirrels at play, or sharing laughter with family. She showed that true strength is often quiet, steady, and humble, expressed in love that asks for nothing in return.
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ed and Donna Hoffman. She leaves behind her brother, Rick Hoffman (Carrie); her cherished daughter and son-in-law, Cherie and Kevin Huffman; her adopted families, the Huffmans and Ingrams, with whom she shared years of holidays, laughter, and lasting memories as well as many friends, nieces and a nephew.
Vicky’s life was one of deep love, quiet strength, and unwavering generosity. Her memory will live on in the hearts of the many people—both young and old—whose lives she touched.
A private Celebration of Vicky’s Life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
