Vinci Mae Flanagan

Vinci Mae Flanagan, 101, of Topeka, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, September 17, 2024.

She was born September 3, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest Hobson and Myrna (Leazer) Beauchamp. 

Mrs. Flanagan was a member of the Unity Church, of Topeka, KS as well as a member of the Sweet Adelines. She volunteered in the 501-school district of Topeka, teaching underprivileged children to read. 

She graduated from North High School in Des Moines, Iowa in 1941. After high school, Vinci danced professionally in both Chicago and Detroit until she was 21. She married H. Thomas Flanagan on June 26, 1945. He preceded her in death on December 3, 2012. Also preceding her in death were her parents, eldest son, Thomas J. Flanagan; eldest sister, Elizabeth Abbott; brother, W. Lee Meredith and younger sisters, Shari Neumann and Glenda Beauchamp. 

Survivors include sons, Patrick (Wendy) Flanagan and Jon Flanagan; daughter, Michele Flanagan and grandchildren, Summer (David) Goon, Paul Lauer, Matthew Flanagan and Sara Flanagan.

Vinci enjoyed singing, playing the organ, reading, crossword puzzles, and most of all dancing and caring for her family.

Vinci was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2024 at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka, Kansas. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the ceremony.
