William L. Kobach

May 24, 1938 — March 1, 2022

Bill Kobach, 83, of Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. He was born on May 24, 1938, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, the son of Joseph and Eleanor Kobach. He attended the University of Wisconsin before serving in the US Army in 1959-61. He then began his career in the automobile business in Madison, Wisconsin.

Bill married Janice Iverson in Madison, Wisconsin, on May 8, 1965. In 1973, the Kobach family moved to Topeka, where Bill owned and ran Bill Kobach Buick-GMC until 2010. An Eagle Scout, he was a lifelong supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. He was also a Board Member of Topeka Bank & Trust and a member of the Downtown Topeka Rotary Club.

Bill was a competitive ski jumper and hockey player in his youth. He became a daily runner in the late 1960s, long before running was common. He was also an avid downhill skier, and he enjoyed quail and deer hunting throughout his life.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Kobach, his son, Kris Kobach of Lecompton (married to Heather Kobach), and his daughters, Amy Entz of Topeka (married to Mike Entz), and Nisa Oberlin of Colorado Springs, Colorado (married to Wes Oberlin), as well as nine grandchildren—Lilly, Reagan, Molly, Charlotte, and Josephine Kobach; Alex and Izzy Entz; and Miles and Vivian Oberlin. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother James.

A Funeral Ceremony will be at 10:00 am, Saturday, March 5, 2022, at the Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka. The family will receive friends at the funeral chapel one hour prior to the service.
