William Patrick "Bill" Thornton, Sr., 77, of Scranton, passed away Monday, June 27, 2022.
He was born July 15, 1944, in Texas, the son of James D. and Mary (Rentas) Thornton. He served in the Air Force during Vietnam.

Survivors include their children, William "Bill" Thornton, Jr. (Bobbie) of Winter Haven, FL, Donovan Thornton (Ruth) of Overbrook, Spicey Henning (Erich) of Scranton and Rebecca "Becky" Sue Ralston (Terry) of Carbondale. He loved all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and just became a great-great-grandpa in March. Bill planned to be 110 years old and to be shot by a jealous husband. He enjoyed fishing, going to the casino, and spending time with his grandkids. He loved helping anyone he could – he was a volunteer firefighter for 35 years.
A memorial ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 9th at 11:00 AM at Cross Road Community Church at 512 Mason Street in Scranton.
