Wilfred (Willie) Erikson, a devoted family man and esteemed over-the-road truck driver, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his daughter and wife on December 6, 2025, in Belvue, Kansas, at the age of 70. Born on May 15, 1955, in Manhattan, Kansas, Willie led a life marked by hard work, love, and a passion for helping others.
From 1979 until 2010, Willie served as a reliable truck driver, a role he cherished immensely. His dedication to his craft was evident as he traveled the roads, always sharing stories and experiences with those he encountered along the way. When not on the road, he found joy working for a farmer, demonstrating his strong work ethic and commitment to supporting those around him.
Willie's personality was as vibrant as his interests. He was a determined individual, known for setting his mind to tasks and seeing them through. A fun-loving spirit, he was social and never met a stranger, earning a reputation for his loving heart of gold. He was always quick to lend a helping hand, whether it was assisting someone on the side of the road or making sure he was available for significant family events.
The moments spent with family remained with Willie throughout his life. He routinely showered his loved ones with compliments, reminding them that they were beautiful and cherished. Willie's true pride and joy were his beloved wife, Linda Erikson, with whom he enjoyed 32 years of marriage, their daughter Shelby Lynn Erikson (Tinkerbell), son Chad Erikson (Chadderbox), and his granddaughter Amia June Ohmer (Buttercup). He also shared a deep bond with his siblings, Linda Chase, Mina Anderson, and Randy Erikson.
Willie's many hobbies included a keen interest in cars, trucks, and locomotives, along with his cherished collection of John Deere tractors and a Minneapolis Moline G. He took pleasure in the great outdoors, often hosting bonfires and wiener roasts with friends and family, creating cherished memories for all who knew him.
In addition to his loving family, Willie is preceded in death by his son, Chad Michael Erikson; his father, Wilfred Erikson Sr.; and his parents, Marcia and Leighton Lytle. His nephews, Gene Heim and Ben Berroth.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on December 14, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Southwest Chapel, located at 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS 66610.
Willie Erikson will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, unwavering love, and the warmth he brought to the lives of those around him. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, who will forever cherish the time shared with him.
