Russell D. Swarts, 93, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018

He was born December 30, 1924 in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Harry and Jessie M. (Benton) Swarts. He was a graduate of Osage City High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II.

Russell and his wife owned and operated the Swarts Clothing Store in Osage City for over 30 years before retiring.

He was a member of the Osage City Chamber of Commerce, American Legion and Kiwanis of Osage City.

Russell married Ellen C. Holden on October 6, 1948 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2009. Survivors include her daughter Diane Ballou and husband, Steve, Topeka; two grandsons, Matt (Mackenzie) Ballou, Cave Springs, AR and Brad Ballou, Overland Park, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Dale, Ellis and Wayne Swarts.

A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Osage City Cemetery, Osage City, KS.

A memorial service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 13, 2018 at the Wesley Hall at Aldersgate Village, Topeka.
