Eileen Marie (Thiele) Leinwetter, 92, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, June 16, 2019.

She was born October 9, 1926, in Norton, Kansas, the daughter of Franz and Elsa (Wegener) Thiele.

Eileen and her husband owned and operated the Leinwetter Funeral Home in Atwood, Kansas, retiring in 1985. During retirement, she and her husband enjoyed living in Bella Vista, Arkansas for several years, moving to Topeka in 2002.

She was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in Atwood and currently a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Topeka. She was also a member of Theta Kappa Social Club and several pinochle playing card clubs in Atwood.

Eileen married Edward M. "Ed" Leinwetter on February 3, 1948 in Norton County, Kansas. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2017. Survivors include their children, Larry Edward (Pam) Leinwetter of Topeka, Lynette Eileen Leinwetter Kanak of Atwood, Kansas, Dr. Myron (Tandy) Leinwetter of Rossville, Mark Leinwetter of Shawnee, Kansas; grandchildren, Dr. Lee (Laura) Leinwetter, Bryan (Melanie) Leinwetter, Linda (Ryan) Kanak Bolen, Lisa (Scott) McGrath, Benjamin Leinwetter and Ellen (Sean) Quinn; great-grandchildren, Anderson, Adrianna, Cade, Evelyn and Margo Leinwetter, Tessa, Cy and Evan Bolen, Jaren and Lynsi Kanak; step-great-grandchildren, Benton, Lilian and Layci McGrath; her siblings, Charlotte Brantley, Wanda Powell, Loren Thiele, and Sharon Meyers; and sister-in-law, Elaine Fikan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Jason Kanak; her sister, Karen Somers; her brothers, Erwin, Raymond and Karl Thiele; and several nieces and nephews.

Eileen enjoyed spending time with family, sewing, baking; and was active in many church and religious activities.

Cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2019 at the Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka.

The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at Immanuel Cemetery in Herndon, Kansas, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lutheran Hour Ministries, 660 Mason Ridge Center Drive, St. Louis, MO 63141 or Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
