William A. "Bill" Wright, 74, of Topeka, died Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas. Bill was born October 3, 1945 in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Wilbur and Kay Wright.

Bill graduated from Lawrence High School in 1963. He attended Allen County Community Junior College and Pittsburg State University. Bill and Cheri Edmondson were married on June 22, 1968 and moved to Wamego, Kansas where they began their new life together and enjoyed 40 years of lasting friendships and community involvement.

In 1966, Bill and his brother, Fred Wright, operated the Pirate's Den and Ponderosa clothing stores. Later, Bill began his career in real estate and insurance. In 1981, Bill owned and operated Wamego Farm Center. He returned to real estate business in 1997, when he and Cheri opened their real estate company Bill Wright and Associates. Always an active member of the community, Bill served on the Wamego City Commission, Wamego Chamber of Commerce, volunteer fire department and was one of the original team of friends who lit Wamego's Fourth of July fireworks show. The family enjoyed 30 years of incredibly fun times at Lake Wabaunsee.

In 2006, Bill and Cheri moved to Topeka, enjoying their new home and traveling on fantastic road trips through the United States. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and the Sportsman Club in Topeka.

Bill was a special guy who had many wonderful friends. He enjoyed a life full of happiness and a beautiful marriage of 51 years. He was deeply loved by his family.

Survivors include his wife, Cheri, two children, Curt Wright, Christi Stewart (Shawn) and two grandchildren Elizabeth and Will Stewart.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd. Immediately following the service, a celebration of life reception will be held at the Dillon House, 404 SW 9th Street. Private burial will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Westboro Home Owners Association Campaign Fund for Westboro Park beautification, PO Box 3829, Topeka, Kansas 66604 or ALS Association Mid-America Chapter, 6950 Squibb Rd., Mission, Kansas 66202.
