In Memory Of
Lyman Schley
1947 - 2021

Lyman H. Schley, 73, died peacefully at home on Sunday, January 17, 2021 after a long battle with cancer.

His family and friends knew him only as a devoted, supportive and dedicated man, who always “kept it real” with his advice and sense of humor (even if it was wildly inappropriate). Lyman was known for his entertaining stories, and his joyful spirit.

He was born December 25, 1947 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of George and Elizabeth (Perry) Schley.

Lyman worked a variety of jobs, but he was most known for his experience as a skilled bartender and manager. He was a Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. Lyman served seven years as Worshipful Master (WM) of the Masonic Lodge Euclid No. 2 and served as a Past Master (PM) for the last two years.

Lyman will be forever remembered by his wife and best friend of thirty-four years Gwen BaileySchley, their children, LaMona Scroggins (Schley) , LaToya Burnett , Jeff Schley, and Taylor Schley, ten grandchildren, Kierra Chandler, Kiana Chandler, Kyla Chandler, Kamani Chandler, Cesar (Xavier) Martinez, Kendall Chandler, Julian Martinez, Leo Martinez, Niklaus Scroggins, and Drina-Lynn Schley and his siblings, George Schley and Brian Schley.

Lyman was predeceased by his parents, George and Elizabeth and his sister Michelle (Cambrelen).

Lyman was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He was the rock of his family and a leader in the community. He enjoyed spending time with his loved ones and was always there for them.

Private services will be held at Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. Private burial will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Stormont-Vail Foundation, 1500 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, Kansas 66604.

The family of Lyman wishes to thank you for your thoughts, cards and prayers during this time of loss.
