Jonas McNeil Turner, 36, of Topeka, passed away Monday, February 15, 2021.

He was born April 29, 1984, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Gloster Turner and Mary Jane (Barnes) Samuel. He served in the army from 2004 to 2012.

Jonas was a student at Washburn University.

Mr. Turner was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association. He was also a support member of Topeka Point Man International Ministries.

Survivors include his son, Cory Turner of Osawottomie, Kansas; mother, Mary Samuel of Lawrence; brother, Lenn Barnes; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and his service dog Chaos. He was preceded in death by his father and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Jonas loved life and had a smile and laugh that would light up an auditorium. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, gardening, and baking - especially banana bread.

Jonas was cremated. A "Gathering for JoJo" will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Reynolds Lodge at Lake Shawnee. A memorial ceremony will be held in the near future in Topeka. Interment of the cremated remains will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
