In Memory Of
Kathleen Elizabeth Bryson
1955 - 2021

Kathleen Elizabeth Bryson, 65, of Topeka, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021.

She was born July 28, 1955, in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of F. Keith and Mildred Mae (Bruner) Cain. She received an EMT certification from Barton County Community College.

Kathleen was employed at Stormont-Vail since 2005 as a monitor care technician.

In 2020, Kathleen became a Docent at the Topeka Zoo. When not working at Stormont-Vail, you could find her volunteering at the zoo.

Survivors include her daughters, Jessica Bryson of Topeka and Trinette Pilgrim (Scott) of Martinsburg, West Virginia; grandkids Shelby, Mason and Brody of Martinsburg, West Virginia; brother Patrick Cain of Riley, Kansas; and nieces and nephews Amy Freitick, Amanda Quigley, Christopher Freitick, Nicole Cain, Laura Cain, April Lund, and Dustin Lund; and great-nephew Mason Cain. She was preceded in death by her parents; her older sister Frances Freitick and younger sister Jennifer Edwards; and nephew Jeremy Schurle.

Kathleen loved geocaching (her favorite cache was Rock Crusher), genealogy (she loved telling her ancestors' stories) and spending time at the zoo (she always worried she was boring her coworkers with all of her zoo stories). Her passion was her grandkids - she loved telling them her stories and they never tired of asking her for the next story. She loved animals and would do anything in her power to help anyone in need. She was an organ and tissue donor. She was a kind, compassionate person whose legacy will live on through all of her memorable stories.

Kathleen was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 26th at Kay's Garden at the Topeka Zoo, 635 SW Gage. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 24th at Dove Cremations and Funerals - Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota, Topeka, KS 66605.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Topeka Zoo, 635 SW Gage, Topeka, KS 66606.
