Ruth Ann (Platz) Pile, 96, passed away May 12, 2021 in Overland Park, Kansas.

Ruth Ann was born January 5, 1925 in Pueblo, Colorado to Sam E. and Louella (Hughes) Platz.

After attending schools in Colorado, Ruth Ann came to Topeka, Kansas in 1960. There, she graduated from Washburn University in Social Work (1967) and was employed by SRS as a social worker for 7 years. In 1976 she graduated in the first nursing class of Washburn University and then served as a school nurse for USD 501.

Ruth Ann was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church, the Topeka Chapter of DAR, AAUW and Philomathean.

Ruth Ann married John R. Pile on June 8, 1946. He preceded her in death in 2004.

Ruth Ann is survived by 3 children, Suzanne Pile Wilkerson (Gary) of Overland Park, KS, Samuel R. Pile (Connie) of Garden Valley, ID and Matthew K. Pile (Kathryne) of Tulsa, OK; 8 grandchildren and spouses, Casey Wilkerson (Audrey), Gabe Wilkerson (Crystal), Christie Pile Brodie (Brandon), Tim Pile (Hannah), Tom Pile (Ashley), Jack Pile (Raegan), Dan Pile (Emma) and Jim Pile (Kinsey); 10 great-grandchildren, Thomas and Natalie Brodie, Ryan and Stella Wilkerson, Layla and Aspen Wilkerson, Lincoln and Bradley Pile, Boston Pile, Layton Price and Tristen Pile.

A visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Dove Cremations and Funerals - Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610.

A funeral ceremony will follow at 11:00 am at Dove Cremations and Funerals – Southwest Chapel.

Interment will take place after the services at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS 66604.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lumicare Hospice, 220 NW R.D. Mize Rd., Blue Springs, MO 64014.
