Eldon Ernest Soudek, 85, of Topeka, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021.

He was born May 5, 1936, in Irving, Kansas, the son of Vivien Ernest and Ollie Lorraine (Miller) Soudek.

Eldon graduated from Topeka High School in 1954. He continued his education at Washburn University receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts in 1959.

Eldon served four years in the United States Army Reserve.

Eldon was employed by the State of Kansas Department of Transportation as an Engineering Technician from 1962 until his retirement in 2000.

He married Sharon Baird on July 4, 1962 in Washington, Kansas.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon; his son, Karl (Pamala) Soudek of Topeka; his daughter, Kathleen (John) Malloy of Topeka; his grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Williams, Ethan Soudek, Joshua Malloy, Madison Malloy, Nicholas Malloy and Benjamin Malloy and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Jacob Malloy; his two sisters, Maxine Wooton and Fae Dinkle.

Eldon was an avid reader, photographer and loved playing bridge and he also crewed for hot air balloons.

Honoring Eldon’s request, cremation is planned. A memorial ceremony will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Dove Cremations and Funerals – Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610.

Interment of Eldon’s cremated remains will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Fund at Aldersgate Village, 7220 SW Asbury Dr., Topeka, KS 66614 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
