Esther Eileen Hastings, 98, of Lawrence, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021.

She was born February 19, 1923, in Griggsville, Illinois, the daughter of Clyde and Lucille Jones.

Esther married Raymond “Ray” Hastings. Together they had a successful career building houses together. Ray was a gifted builder and Esther handled the beautiful finish work. Esther was devoted to Ray; she cooked and kept a clean home for them.
She loved to refinish antique furniture and collect antiques. She enjoyed gardening and was avid about going to garage sales and having sales of her own. One of Esther’s best qualities was her great love of animals.

She is survived by her daughter in law, Charlotte Hastings; grandchildren, Keri Collins, Koery (Robin) Hastings, Kelli (Doug) Duncan, and Korien (Rick) Pefifer; nine great-grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; son Roger Hastings and six brothers and three sisters.

Cremation is planned. Services are pending for a later date due to Covid.
