Lois M. Fensler, 95, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, July 15, 2022 at Brewster Place in Topeka.

She was born June 28, 1927 in Saginaw, Michigan and grew up in Midland, Michigan the daughter of George Lynn and Mary Eleanor (Kidder) Heatley.

Lois graduated from Midland High School and then attended Michigan State University earning a Bachelor Degree in Home Economics. She was employed by the American States Insurance Company in Topeka for many years. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church of Topeka and the Stormont Vail Hospital Auxiliary, where she volunteered for 42 years.

Lois was very involved in her church serving in multiple capacities. She loved to travel. She visited 48 of the U.S. states and also traveled to Asia, Central America, South America, Canada, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. She was an avid reader and was part of a seniors singing group called, New Beginnings. Most of all Lois enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

Lois married her travel companion and love of her life Richard "Dick" Fensler on April 25, 1953. They were married for 59 years. He preceded her in death on October 30, 2012.

Survivors include two sons, Don (Kyoko) Fensler of Salem, Oregon and Bruce (Shio) Fensler of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; daughter, Janet (Ronald) Marts of Prairie Village, Kansas; five grandchildren, David (Kristina) Fensler, Sarah (Kyle) Critchnau, Rick Fensler, Michelle Fensler and Marc Fensler; six great-grandkids, Jaxson Fensler, Averie Fensler, Kately Fensler, Collyns Fensler, Nolan Critchnau and Melody Critchnau.

She was preceded in death by husband Dick, her parents and a brother, Robert Heatley.

Honoring Lois’ request, cremation has taken place. The family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel. A Celebration of Lois’ Life will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd., Topeka, KS 66610.

A private inurnment of Lois’ cremated remains will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery, 3616 SW 6th Ave., Topeka, KS 66606.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Stormont Vail Hospital Auxiliary, 1500 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604 or to the Brewster Place Foundation, 1205 SW 29th St., Topeka, KS 66611.
