Edward H. Sutter

1937 - 2022
Edward H. Sutter, 85, of Topeka, formerly of Kansas City, Kansas, went to be with the Lord after a brief illness on Monday, September 19, 2022.

Edward was born on September 14, 1937, at Providence Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas.

He was a member of First Christian Church, Topeka, Kansas. Edward retired from Burlington Northern Santa Fe as Railway Clerk after thirty years of service. Those who knew him knew he had never met a stranger, loved his neighbor as himself, and was an active community member and volunteer. He was a committed parent to his children and loved his family fiercely. He wanted to give them the best childhood he could. Edward loved cooking, camping and canoeing, making sure summers were filled with activities, went to church, tucked in his children, and loved how he knew to love. His dream was to get a camper and travel to see each of his children's families across the U.S. His health started to decline over the past ten years, during which his loyal sisters greatly supported him.

Edward is survived by his son, Edward Herman (Barbara), Saddle Brook, N.J., his daughters, Janelle Sutter Leistad (R. Reed), League City, Texas; Eleanora Sutter Messina, Seabrook, Texas; and Genevieve Sutter Blake (Frank), Mt. Laurel, N.J.; ten grandchildren, Brielle Sutter Dwyer (Tyler), Tabitha Sutter Lewinski (Tyler), and Evan Sutter (Kayla); Lindsey and Ashley Leistad; Bradley Sutter Irlmeier (Jordyn) and Joey Messina; and Caroline, Frank IV, and Henry Blake; his three great-grandchildren, Addison Sutter and Dawson and Anthony Lewinski; his sisters, Mary Sue Tucker, Overland Park, Kansas; Sally Jane Tamasi (Bob), Leawood, Kansas; Genevieve Louise Maloney, Mission, Kansas; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Edward was preceded in death by his brother, John Sutter and his brother-in-law, James Maloney.

Memorial services will be held at Porter Funeral Home, with inurnment to follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the organization of the donor's choice.
