Marvin Emery Cowger, 84, of Topeka, passed away due to complications of COPD on Sunday, November 13, 2022.

He was born August 23, 1938, in Delia, Kansas, the son of Jesse and Henrietta (Van Valkenburg) Cowger. He graduated from Soldier High School in Soldier, Kansas in 1956. He served in the Army from 1959 to 1961.

Marvin was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad, retiring on February 9, 1998.

Marvin was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Marvin married Carolyn Noller on June 29th, 2011 in Miami, Oklahoma. She survives, along with his children Keith Cowger and Traci Cowger of Topeka; brother Melvin Cowger of Topeka. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary.

Marvin loved country dancing (that being how he met Carolyn), music, and farm life. He loved horses and dogs – especially his Rottweiler Gemini. He loved talking to people and making friends with just about anyone he came into contact with. And he loved his vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

A funeral service will be on Thursday, November 17th at 12:00 p.m. at the Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street in Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 16th at the Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka.

Memorial contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Miami, Florida 33134 or Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
