Dennis J. Segelquist, 76, of Topeka, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023.

He was born May 25, 1946, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of John and Betty (Bennett) Segelquist. He attended Highland Park High School.

Dennis was employed by Wolfe's Camera Shop, retiring in 1991.

Dennis was a local historian, writing a book entitled “Oakland in the News: 1886 and Beyond” and writing an extensive blog about Oakland as well. He had an extensive interest in genealogy as well.

Dennis married Roberta Crites on December 12, 1972 in Topeka. She survives, along with his children Denise Segelquist and Tammy Segelquist, both of Topeka; grandson Christopher Pfannenstiel of Topeka and granddaughter Makayla Segelquist of Topeka; brother Michael Segelquist and sisters Sally Piepho and Karla Horkman.

Dennis enjoyed photography, woodworking, and metal detecting.

A celebration of life for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 13th from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Dove Cremations and Funerals Southwest Chapel, 3700 Wanamaker Road in Topeka.
